Today, I was thrilled to find out that my iPhone will notify me of any upgrade to apps I’ve downloaded from the iTunes App Store. Awesome right?

As it turns out, it’s even better than it sounds.

In the picture to the right, you can see the App Store icon on my iPhone – and its got a tiny #2 on it – just like when you’ve got a new email, voice mail or text message… Sweet!

That little number lets you know that an update to one of your apps is ready to be downloaded & installed – and like usual, Apple makes it extremely easy to update.

Just tap the App Store icon when you’re in a Wi-Fi zone and you’ll get a list of the app updates.

Now tap the app you’d like to update (or Update All in the top right corner)

Tap download and then tap install

It’s that simple!

You’ll know it’s working when you see a progress bar filing up on your updated app. In this case, I updated my favorite FREE iPhone App, Tap Tap Revenge. You can just see the blue progress bar across the bottom of the game icon.

When the progress meter is full, the app has been updated, installed and is ready to go!

This is just another reason why I make out with my iPhone… I mean… Use it a lot.

Just downloaded Tap Tap Revenge from the iTunes App Store and I gotta tell you… It’s fan-freaking-tastic good time. Great game play, great sound and great graphics make this my #1 FREE game in the App Store.

Yep… It’s free!

This Guitar Hero clone “rocks” a wicked helpful tutorial to get you started. The tutorial even talks to you – no reading instructions – this is learn on the fly with a little help from that tiny rock star in your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Here’s How It Works

If you’ve seen Guitar Hero, then you already know how to play this game. All you do is tap the base of screen as ball hits the white line. Sounds easy right? It’s not…

Any great game on the iPhone or iPod Touch has to take advantage of the motion sensors – and Tap Tap Revenge does it with style! You’ll see arrows buzzing towards you and you’ve got to shake the iPhone or iPod Touch in the direction the arrow is pointing.

That means you can’t set the device down to tap with both hands. Oh no… You’ll have to hold that thing so you’re ready to shake it at any time. Never know when those arrows will show up.

Tap Tap Revenge Screenshots

TIP: You should pop your headphones in for this game or you’ll miss out on the crystal clear music and sound effects. Plus, the external speaker on the iPhone is pretty weak. You’ll want to rock out big-time so trust me and use headphones.

In the App Store, search for “Tap Tap Revenge” and give it a try – it’s definitely worth ZERO dollars.

Have you played Tap Tap Revenge? What did you think?
