Uninstall Unused Software With AppCleaner

AppCleaner – Quickly and easily removes unwanted and unused software, widgets and other files from your Mac.

“It isn’t, in fact, sufficient to just delete an application. Installing an application distributes many files throughout your System using space of your Hard Drive unnecessarily. AppCleaner can find all these small files and safely delete them.”

That’s a lot of words to just say it will completely remove every file attached to an application – without damaging your Mac, but that’s another story.

The truth is, this free software works just as advertised. Deleting files and applications is quick and simple with drag and drop or use the search within AppCleaner to find programs or other files to remove.

Typically, I’ll download a trial version of software before I buy it. Unfortunately, I don’t buy much of the software I try – which leaves me with a hard drive packed full of expired trial software. Now I’ve got a surefire way to get rid of those old, unused trials and free up a little extra hard drive space.

So far, AppCleaner has worked well for me – lots of software deleted and no trouble with Leopard.

No idea if you can use AppCleaner to delete itself. I was too afraid of what might happen (The movie Groundhog Day comes to mind.) My guess is AppCleaner is like the Terminator; Unable to self-terminate.

If you’d like to try AppCleaner, it’s free, but they do ask for a donation.
