Love this, from Engadget:
Apparently Mindset Media did a personality profile of 7,500 Applesluts at Macworld and found that Apple users “are more liberal, less modest, and more assured of their own superiority than the population at large.”
They didn’t say if they’d found a causal relationship.
It seems Apple-love correlates to high openness, low dogmatism, low modesty, and high superiority.
Okay, I get the shameless and open-minded part, but I was a little disturbed by the superiority thing until I read their description:
You are an extraordinary person and are comfortable proclaiming your accomplishments from the mountaintops.
I had a fortune cookie the other night that said the same thing.
They also said people like us “seek rich, varied and novel experiences, believing that imagination and intellectual curiosity contribute to a life well lived. They are receptive to their own inner feelings and may feel both happiness and unhappiness more intensely than others.”
Kind of sounds like the Applesluts’ credo, don’t it?

Is that you? It can’t be you. I hope it’s you. I like you, whoever you are, wheehter you smoke a cigar or not. Yes to inner feelings (are there another kind?) and Yes to imagination and intellectual curiosity!
OK, so I’ve got nothing to say and I’m commenting, but isn’t that the whole deal with Apple? So tell me this, applesluts, who are you voting for? Fiona? Or is that too much content for an applehead? Do we even know what sort of computer the candidates favor? Can you see McCain with an Apple? I bet they all take great care not to identify with any brand because that will alienate some sector. But is there an appleslut out there who knows? Where’s your gossip page? Your politics page?
We’re working on a Dirty Little Secrets page that will be all that juicy stuff: where intellectual curiosity meets prurient interest. Inquiring minds need to know.
Fabulous question about the candidates. Definitely can’t see McCain with an Apple, or any of the rest of those guys. I’ve always wondered whether the Apple/PC thing breaks along party lines. But it’s true that even if, say, Obama is an applehead, he probably couldn’t afford to be out about it. Or could he? What company, after all, is more identified with change and innovation?
Hmm. Have to look into all this.
Nah, that ain’t me, darlin. That’s me dear old mum, bless her shameless, craggy heart.
