More Gmail + iPhone Updates

I’ve been using Gmail on my iPhone since Day 1. However, I’ve been using the “integrated” Gmail that you can set up to work like any other POP email account.

Had no idea that Gmail also has a custom iPhone app you can use with Safari. I found out when I noticed the “iPhone Updates” link (shown in image above) when I logged into Gmail on my iMac.

Just open Safari on your iPhone and go to http://www.m.gmail.com.

Log in and you’ll see the the interface – and it’s pretty bad ass. Very clear and easy to use.

Gmail iPhone Web AppPlus, you can see all of the labels right in the inbox – just like you were looking at Gmail on your computer. And you can “star” items, select multiple items to move, delete, mark as new and just about everything else.

The coolest feature of the Gmail app for iPhone might be the Group Chat. You can invite people to your discussion and chat with multiple people in one window. – NICE!

And you can set up Gmail as IMAP so you the changes you make on iPhone will show up on your computer or any other way you access Gmail. Here’s a YouTube video on setting up the Gmail IMAP account on your iPhone.

Me, I still prefer the internal mail application for my Gmail account. Call me old fashioned, but the Mail app just works faster than opening Safari and using Gmail as a web app.

Either way you choose to access Gmail on your iPhone, you still win because there are NO ADS!

Not sure why it’s ad free, but I’m counting my lucky stars!
