How To Update Your iPhone & iPod Touch Apps
Today, I was thrilled to find out that my iPhone will notify me of any upgrade to apps I’ve downloaded from the iTunes App Store. Awesome right?
As it turns out, it’s even better than it sounds.
In the picture to the right, you can see the App Store icon on my iPhone – and its got a tiny #2 on it – just like when you’ve got a new email, voice mail or text message… Sweet!
That little number lets you know that an update to one of your apps is ready to be downloaded & installed – and like usual, Apple makes it extremely easy to update.
- Just tap the App Store icon when you’re in a Wi-Fi zone and you’ll get a list of the app updates.
- Now tap the app you’d like to update (or Update All in the top right corner)
- Tap download and then tap install
- It’s that simple!

You’ll know it’s working when you see a progress bar filing up on your updated app. In this case, I updated my favorite FREE iPhone App, Tap Tap Revenge. You can just see the blue progress bar across the bottom of the game icon.
When the progress meter is full, the app has been updated, installed and is ready to go!
This is just another reason why I make out with my iPhone… I mean… Use it a lot.
